Education and Child Care

From its inception in 1993, we at HCT have been actively working on this area. We have imbibed this thought very early in our vision and we have dedicated this division where we focus keenly on the development and education of children, their rights to develop equality in all manner.
Education and Child rights are the heart of UN values. In spite of Human society arriving in the 21st century, many children around the world continue to experience discrimination and violence in many forms. At HCT we’re striving to empower children to overcome the challenges they are facing and foster the environment of growth and development in the smallest possible ways.
Actions

CHILDLINE 1098 is the free helpline for the children in need of aid and assistance. To provide support into the areas of interventions we have collaborated with ChildLine Amreli 1098 and initiated awareness activities among the children. Our main aim is that the children get awareness about their rights and feel free to express if they are facing any kind of troubles or in need of care and protection.

Gender Equitable Boys

Why is there a need to educate boys about equality ?
Violence against women remains a major global public health and women’s health threat during emergencies. Gender inequality and norms on the acceptability of violence against women are a root cause of violence against women.
One of the important aspect while we focus on violence against women or women empowerment is the need for meaningful engagement of men and boys to advance gender inequality and equity. This is essential for holistic development and advancement of the society which ultimately drills down to advancement of communities and families at the ground level.
This requires a firm understanding and grooming of future men who are boys today, They need to be effectively engaged to bring about the desired gender equality.
Answer: “Not all men are part of the problem but all of them can be the part of the solution, to bring about behavioural change leading to equality and equity.”
Rationale
As Hariraj Charitable Trust, we have a strong presence in proposed regions, good knowledge about – how to work with boys, children.
Equal Community foundation (ECF) works on the area of educating boys, and providing us the educational support to run this program, HCT has a good reach locally, experience in this domain. So this works well for both to address the issue of women empowerment, gender equality though the medium of educating the mindset of young.
Project goals and objectives
  • Focusing only on rural geographic – to develop a better society for girl children and women (where certain factors like low level education, harmful use of alcohol, child maltreatment, etc play a major role for violence against male)
  • To provide emotional support to young boys in their sensitive age – To mould their behaviour, understanding and mindset through various activities and programs
  • To develop the society which gender equitable rather than male dominant
  • To know and resolve the issues and discriminations of the society that people are facing in the rural area
  • Transformation into the society, from the individual to the family, small groups and into the society
Through the “Foundation and Action For Equality Course” we have directly impacted the lives of total 465 boys. This program we are running into a total 10 locations of different rural areas in Amreli and Gir-Somnath district.
Center for Learning Assistance

Communities migrate frequently due to their livelihood concerns and this results in major deviation in education of their children and to support their family from an early age, children go to work to earn money that results in lack of education or no education at all. To facilitate those children who have been sidelined from their education, we are empowering them with education. Center for Learning assistance is the program in which Leanring Assistance (LA), parents, teachers of their schools are the key stakeholders. With their support we identify their special needs and provide them that environment in which those children can learn. CLA classes fulfilled their emotional, interpersonal as well as their educational needs.
Why is there a need for CLA ?
Parents do not have enough time for their children and don’t go to school regularly as they help their parents with their work. Lack of resources and updated technology is a major concern especially in the era of pandemics where online education is an emerging need.
To support their family from an early age, children go to work to earn money, which results in a lack of knowledge. Many children are found migrated and their families are on migration on a continuous basis for their livelihood. Mostly it has been observed that children are not getting a good or even a basic education.
To indulge them within the mainstream it is required to empower and nurture them with proper education, interpersonal as well as emotional needs.

Class module and pattern

The aim to facilitate all the children who aim to learn. Implementation of the program is based on volunteers that check the learning of children and pick them from the place where children had left their learning no matter what they have left behind. With this project we are facilitating the children in the following manner:
  • Assisting students in their class and in their subject work
  • Any student associated with the center can be benefited from the personal time of the LA’s not only for education but also to talk
  • We nurture them and encourage them also if someone has a special interest or talent or needs support when they are preparing to leave school for work, in such cases when a child requires a special friend to talk
  • Working on special project and initiating various activities in which then can share books, stories, activities, games, interests and tasks
  • We also celebrates special occasions
  • The Center is taking care of responsibility for the active participation of students and also taking care of their timely attendance at sessions.
Through the “Center of Learning Assistance” we are directly impacting the lives of a total 250 children. This program we are running into a total 10 locations of different rural areas of Amreli and Gir-Somnath district
