Since the inception of HCT, founders have recognised the emerging need of alternative livelihoods as there are no industries or any major enterprise into the area and majority of people are doing farming. People living in rural areas often migrate to other locations for their livelihood. To contribute, HCT has undertaken many activities to strengthen agriculture practices and to provide other options for livelihood

REEL Cotton: Responsible Environment Enhances Livelihoods Cotton



CottonConnect and FLOCERT have developed a code of conduct that is internationally recognised and verified by FLOCERT www.flocert.net. The REEL Code verified that farmers in the REEL Cotton Programme are using sustainable practices, with added elements that ensure traceability and decent work.

The REEL COTTON Code of Conduct is a private code of sustainable agricultural practices with a portion to cover traceability and decent working conditions and is internationally recognised as a model sustainability program code by the brands and retailers.

The REEL COTTON Code of Conduct is build around eight Principles.

  1. Pest Management
  1. Water Management
  1. Ecosystem Protection
  1. Waste Management
  1. Institutional Building


We are delivering the training and promoting this practice to the 300 small holders cotton farmers of Vadodara region.
